Blech! Went to the vet today to get my yearly shots. The worst part is with the stick and the-- well, you know what I mean. But Dr. Larkins is very nice. He kept saying I was beautiful. And I'm home now. Thank goodness I don't have to do that for another year *scratch on wood*.

Hmmmmm...
Hello. I'm Simone. I'm posting in here till I get my own journal. I don't really like sharing one with cats that apparently hate me (from the backlogs). So, I just thought I'd say hi - I'll post a link when I get my own journal.

Tonight has been a good night for me - I spent a long time laying on the couch. It's warm.

Here's the thing I don't understand about boy cats - they spend SO long licking their own... well, you know. Why is it that they do that? I mean, every cat cleans themselves, but I at least have the decency to do it in the corner, out of sight. Grooming is private.

But, apparently Kuro can't understand that (I say that because he's currently spread eagle on the carpet licking his own butt). Style points: -50

you lose.

Sebastian isn't so bad... moody, but whatever. He's sort of a loner, and I just leave him alone and he leaves me alone.

I should get a haircut. Hmmmm - anyone know a good stylist that will do a decent job? Oh, and no, I don't want the type that puts you on that demeaning metal table.

If there is no chair for me to sit in and a damned magazine rack, I'm not giving them a dime.

I haven't updated in ages. I've been busy. There's a new neighborhood cat, we call him "Pee Cat". He comes around my yard and starts peeing everywhere. Lemme tell you, if I could get outside... the other night he got his butt kicked though. Serves him right!

Anyway, Sebastian's been creating new sculptures, Simone's been gaining weight, and I've been trying to relax while I reign over the kingdom. Got a new bed that's a little bit bigger so it's nice to not be kicked every night by the parents. That's allf or now!

Sebastian Here...
Oh gawd! So I guess you heard about our new sister. Darnnit this peeves me. She'd BETTER not annoy me. If she starts sleeping in my spots or eating my food or cashing my lizards there will be HELL to pay! Kurosawa can act all nuetral in this situationbut I know he's upset too. I mean first we move to this totally new location and JUST when I'm ready to come out from under the futon and start having fun SHE shows up. It's been my experience that girls are NO fun. She better be one cool cat or else I'm never talking to her.

She also better not TOUCH my litter pan.

I Have A New Sister
She's okay I guess. She's a Maine Coon. Sebastian's mighty upset about her. He gets grouchy then I get grouchythen Mom gets mad at me. As long as there's food left for me.

We Moved!
Into a house. It's full of lots of strange noises and smells. I've finally come ut from under the couch long enough to type in my journal. At least mom and dad are here but I still get spooked. But there's a nice porch. Sebastian loves going out there. Maybe one day I'll b braver but right now I won't go out without Mommy (she says that's good because we aren't allowed out there unsupervised yet).

My brother turns three this month.

The food situation's been better. We got our Organica back and now we're also on Wysong which isn't so bad.

Tonight dinner was taking forever. Mom was late getting home and then she seemed to be putzing around with our bowls. But then she puts them down for us and it's fish! She went out and brought home sashimi left overs! I got maguro (tuna) and Sebby got sake (salmon). Very good!

a pic.

Thank you, Mom!

A Word From the Brother
Hello, this is Sebastian, Kurosawa's brother. I finally decided to give this Live Journal thing a try but I didn't want to create my own so I just made an avatar and will be popping in using my bro's from time to time. So consider this your warning. I'm a Hemingway so my typing's not always that great.

I guess the only thing I have to say for now is that my mom bought new food for us. This is an organic type called Wysong. It's a lot better than that other crap she was feeding us. I have to go, Kuro's whining at me for making a mess of the litter box again...

Oh man has the weather been nice! Sunny, upper 70s, clear... Mom opens the porch door and we go out there and sit. She comes out to eat lunch and/or read her books and I like to lay on the table next to her feet. It's bliss!

So we're on this Eukanuba Low pH food now because Sebastian's got bladder crystals. And Mom and Dad sprinkle this Prozyme stuff on top of it... I dunno, I really miss my Organic All Ages.

Louis Wain's Cats
Ack! Things have been crazy. Brother was rushed to the ER a few days ago. He's better now and he can pee again! I missed him a lot.

Anyway, to reflect the wackiness, I borrowed some websites Mom's friend, thedexter sent her on the cat painting artist, Louis Wain. There are three websites:

  • Neuroscience Art Gallery
  • Cartoon World
  • Catland

Basically he painted cats all his life but after suffering from schizophrenia, his cat paintings became a bit "different":

    FROM THIS-

    TO THIS-

Mom says she figures she'll end up the "crazy cat lady" with blue hair and fifty cats but she's not quiet sure if she'll make paintings like that. I guess we're all different :).

    Sebastian to the ER
I have been reviewing this web site to better grasp what's happening to my step brother. Last night mom and dad rushed him to the ER because he couldn't pee. I was so scared! And then he didn't come home that night. I slept with mom and dad all night long. When he did come home he was in the carrier and now he's gone again. I am so afarid of that carrier I couldn't really come out to see him. Daddy assured me he'd be okay and he'll be home on Saturday. I also heard him on the phone talking to Mommy. Something about having to change our diet. Man, I was just starting to like Organica's All Ages. Ah well.

    Cat Life
I just read on this website that "The average life expectancy of an indoor cat is between 9 to 15 years."

What? That seems so short! Grandma has two cats, one is 16 the other is going to be 19 in February. Both are doing great. I have a heart mur mur and will probbaly be on medication when I get older, but I was expecting to see at least 16. Well, mom and dad take great care of me: make sure I go to the vet to get my shots *mummble mummble*, play with me, make me feel loved, watch my diet... I'm gonna live FOREVER! (heh heh).

Anyway, check the website out, it's got all kinds of cat records. It has the oldest living cat at 36! That's older than mommy!
    7:14 pm
    Vet :(
Man oh man! I just got back from THE VET! Blah! I got two shots. It sucked! I was begging mom not to let anything bad happen to me. I know she wouldn't but when I was in the carrier, my brother, Sebastian, was sure whailing! He's still sick, he has crystals in his bladder. He went in today because he was feeling really bad today. He told me he was following daddy around the house telling him he didn't feel well. I went for "emotional support" but since I was due for my annual shots, they got that done. I weighed in a little over 10 pounds. So I guess I'm off the hook from that diet heh heh. Well, I can't stay mad at mom long. Well, gotta run, must play and pounce!

    My "Brother" is Sick
My adopted kitty brother, Sebastian, is having problems. He started peeing on things "other than the litter pan". I asked him why he wasn't using the litter pan and he told me he was trying to tell mom and dad that he wasn't feeling well. So he went to the vet today. He said it was awful! He said the vet stuck him and ran tests on him and now he has to take pills for a while because he has crystals in his urine. He told me the pills taste really bitter and he hates to have to take them. But at least he gets a treat afterwards. I told him maybe he had better try to just take them. He told me maybe I better stop eating his special food. I'm going to assume that's the "not feeling well" talking.

Mom and Dad were gone for five days for the holidays. I missed them a lot. The power went out and it was 50 degrees out so it got a bit chilly. I wanted them home so I could curl up on the bed with them and stay warm. But now they are back and the bed is once again occupied.

Mom was telling me about a new enzyme supplement we're going to start getting. Apparently my uncle (who's a German Shepherd) gets them regularly. I hope it doesn't taste icky! Anyway, it's called Prozyme. Mom says the link is to the chepeast place she's been able to find it online so far.

Anyway, I just talked to Sebastian. He says his stress pill is making him sleepy so he's off to nap but he doesn't feel quiet so bloated. Ah nap. That sounds like a good idea. I think I'll borrow that idea. Oh, and this is us:

Mommy's not feeling well today. She says it's partly because it just started getting cold here. I guess sometimes I forget it's harder for humans to regulate their body temperature's without fur. And she needs it to be warm. When I first came here I was hot all the time. So mommy trimed my fur with scissor hehehh! Now I'm used to it.

Mom says she needs me at times like these, especially when dad's away at work. She says she needs me to be loved and feel needed. Needing someone to make you feel needed. That seems like a funny thing. A catch 22 sort of. But she is very cuddly at times like these.

    Dieting
I haven't updated since October! Yikes! Well, no website review today. For a while I'll be helping my Mom out. You see, she's depressed again about her weight. But everytime she tries to talk about it (which is a lot *sigh*) people tell her she doesn't need to loose weight, that she looks fine. Well, she doesn't want to hear this in a lot of ways. It makes her feel like they think she doesn't know what she's talking about. She just wants a friend to help diet with her. So I said I would. I don't think I'm too bad, but I agreed for support reasons. So we started tonight. I'm supposed to have an eye on her and keep her on her diet. So we started tonight. She said none of this "we'll start in the morning."

    Here's our stats-
    Mom: 144 lbs.
    Me: 12 lbs.
    Mom's Goal: 127 lbs.
    Mine: 11 1/2 lbs.
Mom's Methods Tonight: Kung- fu practice, dinner (tea, ice water, half a turley sandwhich, cup of veggie soup, salad), run, "diet vitamins".
My Methods: dinner, lying on the table, lying by the fireplace, lying on the bed, played with my toy mouse for about 5 minutes, chewed on my baby brother a little.

Hopefully daddy will save me if things get too out of hand! For fun she's saying she can get lipo for 2k or injest a parasite or become anorexic (she's just joking). More than likely she will just annoy me and constantly bekon me to join in on her "scale rituals".

    Cats in Chinese Art
All weekend Mom and Dad were in Atlanta for an anime convention. So I wanted to post about something Asian. I already have done a bit about Japanese culture, so I decided to write about Chinese. It seems like a lot of people think all Chinese in China eat cats for every meal. So I decided to find some websites where cats were treated the opposite: where they were works of art!

zen art- some of these links don't work but you can look atthe pretty thumbnails.
